TASK 1 - TRAVELLING

1. YOUR FLIGHT


This is the flight we'll be taking in September this year to go to London for 4 days (3 nights). Going out we'll take the plane from Girona to London on Thursday on the 4th and the depart is at 6:20a.m, the arrivel is at 7:30a.m at London(Stansted). Coming back on Monday the 8th of September, we'll depart from London(Stanstred) at 7:55a.m to Girona arriving at 10:55a.m.


The price for bouth journeys (get to your destination and back) is only 79.92EUR for 4 person!

3. SAFETY INFORMATION (optional speaking activity)




There are 4 main door exits, two at the front: one left, one right; two at the rear: one left, one right and four overawing exits in the center of the cabin: two left and two right. Please take a moment now to notice your nearest exits. To fasten tour seatbelts and set the little endings toggle buckle to secure pull on the loose end of the strap. To open lift the buckle cover in the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure an individual oxygen mask, like this, will drop automatically from the panel just above you head. Should this happen, pull down fully on the mask to start the flow of oxygen. Place the mask on your nose and mouth and breath normally. Secure the mask with the strap provided. Adults traveling with young children must attend to their own mask first. Your life jacket is situated in the pocket underneath your seat or the panel above your head. To use it removes it from the package and place it over your head. Cross the black strap around your back and click into the buckle as shown secure by pulling on the strap. To inflate your life jacket pulls down sharply on the red toggle. There is a mouth peace further inflation or deflation and your life jacket is equipped with a light to attract further attention. Do not inflate your life jacket in the cabin, as to do so will impede your exit. Further information can be found on the safety card witch is displayed with in the area where you are seated. Please read this carefully before departure in preparation for the departure. Please ensure your seatbelt is securely fastened. Sit back in the up-right position, tray table, stone and window blinds fully open. Portable computer and other battery-operated equipment may not be used on board however, only when the aircraft is airborne and the seatbelts sign is switched off. Remind you that smoking is strictly prohibited and similar phones including old personal electronic devices must be switched off when fly duration and should not be switched on until you are inside the terminal building. TASK 2 - BUS/TRAI SHUTTLET TO LONDON

1. THE AIRPORT
  • Your plane has just landed in London but there are five major airports in London. Which are you in?
    The airport that we have just landed is Stansted.

  • After you get off the plane you see three signs. Where do you go?
    First of all we must go to Departures, that’s the most important thing to do at that moment, leave the rest for after.

  • Now you need to find your bags and suitcases. Where do you go?
    We must go to the Baggage Reclaim, where we must wait there a while for the baggage to come out, and then we’ll be able to get our baggage.


2. AIRPORT TRANSFER


To get to the center of London from the airport is very easy. You can go by bus, train or taxi. Which is the best option?


We see that the best and cheapest method way of transport is the bus.
We go to the airport coach station that is located in front of the terminal forecourt. We buy the tickets at the coach desk inside the terminal or on the bus.
It’s at the airbus route A6 serves Victoria Coach Station in central London from Stansted Airport. They operate roughly every 30 minutes, seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Journey time depending on traffic is around 1hr 40 minutes.

Price: £7 one-way; £10 return/round trip.

TASK 3 - YOUR HOTEL

1. ACCOMMODATION

Location: It’s right in the heart of Bayswater, near Queensway, Hyde Park and Notting Hill.
Facilities: This new hotel has modern rooms with everything you need. It has TV, free Internet, air-conditioning, the rooms a very confortable and nice. It’s situated in a very good zone, close to all the shops, transport, the center of London,
Price: 80Euros per person for 4 nights
Is it going to be a bed and breakfast.

3. BREAKFAST

This is a typical English breakfast.
The ingredient that it has is: tomato and (or merely on) baked beans; eggs on a fried slice (which seems to be a piece of fried bread); sausage; chips; bacon; salt and oil.

There's toast on the left, in a holder designed to let as much heat as possible escape from the toast before it's eaten.

The breakfast is the more important food what you can eat in the day, and for this question the typical English breakfast is very completed. The breakfast, proportionate at you the energy what you have for started the day, and this English breakfast is a good example of food for start the day.

TASK 4 - GETTING AROUND

Organize how to go and take note:

- from the airport to your hotel: We take the bus from Stansted directly to the bus station Bayswater.
- from the hotel to each of the main attractions, theatres, pubs area...: We will allways use the bus if possible because it's the cheapest way to get around.
- from the hotel back to the airport:
We are going to use the same method of transport we will take the bus from the bus station of Bayswater directly to Stansted airport.

TASK 6 - EATING OUT

1. EATING OUT

Organize what, where and when you are going to have some of your meals.
  • First day-The dining Room is located within the Hilton London Hyde Park Hotel and serves dishes ranging from beef to salmon in a traditional yet intimate restaurant that seats 46 people. Catering for vegetarians is also available.
    Opening times: All week to 4p.m- 12p.m
    Saturday 8a.m-4p
    .m, Sunday’s closed.
    • We will go there at 9p.m until 11p.m for a traditional English supper.
Food: Shepherds' Pie, Cottage Pie, Bubble & Squeak, Black Pudding, Bangers and Mash, drinks: beer, water or soft drinks.


Prices: the prices for each person are 20pounds.


  • Second Day-The Kings Restaurant Situated in the Berjaya Eden Park Hotel, The Kings Restaurant serves a variety of English and International dishes. Catering for private parties of up to 150 guests is available upon request. They also provide live Jazz music. A non smoking policy is observed.
    Opening times: Every day of the week from 9a.m-5p.m

    We will go there for a nice and traditional lunch, at 2p.m until 4p.m.


    Available Food: Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding, Toad-in-the-Hole (sausages covered in batter and roasted.), Roast Meat, Fish and chips, cod, haddock, huss, plaice and much more! Dri
    nks: Water or soft drinks.

    Price: Depends on the food you actually choose it can be between 10-15pounds, each person.
  • Third day- Mandarin Kitchen is a Chinese fish and seafood restaurant with quite a following amongst both Westerners and the local Chinese community. There are also several non-fish dishes. A take away menu is available.
    Openings times: Every day from 1p.m-3:30p.m and then from 7p.m- 11p.m

    We’ll go there at 8p.m until 9:30p.m

    Menu:
    Appetizers: Roll (Egg, Spring or Vegetable)
    Main: Vegetables with Bean Curd Soup, Jumbo Shrimp with Broccoli, Shredded Spicy Beef, Szechuan Chicken, Chow Mein, Moo Shu Pork. Drinks included in the menu, beer, soft drinks, wine or water


    All for just 10pounds each person.

Fish and chips is a tipical London meal. It's fish like cod, haddock, huss, plaice... deep fried in flour batter with chips, what are fried potatoes, dressed in malt vinegar.
Fish and chips are not normally home cooked but bought at a fish and chip shop ("chippie") to eat on premises or as a "take away".

What are the opening times of shops in London?

In the center of London there are the majority shops, they open at 9:00 am to 17:30 pm every week and Friday.

Which is the best tube station to get there?

The best tube station is the Station Marble Arch.

Why? What can you buy there? Why is it so popular? Where is it? When is it open?

Because this station is the nearest to the Oxford Street, and this street is very popular. There you can find alot of things, but the most popular place for the people who live in London is Hamleys.This shop opens at Monday to Saturday from 10:00am to 20:00 pm and Sundays it's opened at 12:00 am to 18:00pm.

Why? Who is the owner of Harrods? What can you buy there? Where is it? How can you get there? When is it opened?

This shop is very important because you can find in it a lot of toys, and parents, in the night of Cristmas, can go there and buy presents for they're children. Harrods is a comercial center very popular in London at the moment it's owned by Mohamet Al Fayet.

You can a lot of things to buy, food, bars, pet shop, pharmacy, restaurants, a Bank Harrods...Harrods is at 87-135 Brompton Road. Harrods is opened at Monday to Saturday, from 10:00am to 20:00 pm and Sundays it's opened at 12:00 am to 18:00pm.

Old Spitafields Market is situed in East end Neighborhood. In here you can get the metro. It is opened every day from 11:00am to 15:00 pm and Sundays is opened from 9:30am to 17:30 pm. In here you can buy food...
Portobello Market is situed in Neighborhood of Notting Hill. In here you can go with bus or with metro. In here you can buy food and other tipes of tihngs.

TASK 8 - WHAT'S ON?



TASK 9 - COMING BACK HOME

Write down at least three things you bought in London and you've packed in your suitcase.
While I have been in London I have bought; post cards from different sites and buildings of London that we have visited like the London Eye, Big Ben... I have also bought a T-shirt of the London Eye and finally, I have bought the typical bus toy of London for my little brother.
What do you have to do before leaving the hotel?
First, we must pack all ues clothes and items and assure that we put everything in urs luggage. Then, we must go to reception and check out and pay for the nights we have been staying at the hotel.
What time are you supposed to leave the hotel? What time is your flight?
We must leave at 5:30, because the bus journey is 30min, and then we have arrive early to make sure that we arrive in time and that we have time to get the plain.
What time do you have to be at the airport?
The flight to go back home is at 7:55 and we have to be at the airport at least 1 hour earlier to ensure that we don’t miss the plain or have any problems while we're there.
